Statement From University of Hawai’i AD David Matlin on Behalf of UH Athletics regarding the passing of Rainbow Warrior Scheyenne Sanitoa

“It’s always heartbreaking to lose a member of our UH ohana, particularly when it’s one of our young student-athletes. Our deepest thoughts and prayers are with his family, his friends, his teammates, and to all those who knew and loved him.”
Considered an up-and-coming prospect, Sanitoa was slated to vie for a starting job this coming season. He appeared in 12 games as a sophomore last season, recording 30 tackles.
There’s no other information available regarding his cause of death. But our thoughts go out to Sanitoa’s family and the entire Hawaii football program.
